Martin Fletcher

Hi my name is Martin Fletcher and I live in the Durham area with my wife and two children.
I was born in York and went to Archbishop Holgates Grammar School. Leaving after sixth form to work for a kitchen furniture manufacturer Geo A Moore & Co as a Management Trainee.
My training included actually working on the shop floor for 18 months
and learning how production planning and logistics worked within the organisation.
I took on operational management roles within the Supply Chain and on leaving after twelve years was responsible for the logistics of the business.
We then upped sticks and went to live in South Yorkshire where I started to work within the Silentnight organisation. My first role with this company was as Distribution Manager which involved setting up a Nationwide Direct Delivery Service to the home for a major Home Shopping Company. After three enjoyable years it was time to move on and I was appointed Distribution Manager at the Silentnight Furniture factory in Sunderland.
The company enjoyed major growth and became the largest volume manufacturer of assembled furniture in the UK. I was appointed Logistics Director which included managing the Customer Service department.
I then decided to set up my own consultancy business and worked throughout the UK for major Furniture Manufacturers involved in National Logistical Solutions. Having spent many years in industry I decided to change tack and use the knowledge and skills I had gained throughout my career and help people who were looking to start up in business.
With my background in business ranging from the Shop Floor through to the Board Room I felt confident I had the skills set to help people plan and get there first foot on the ladder of Self Employment.
Having helped many people get up and running I and two colleagues started Enterprise Made Simple. Between the three of us and our hardworking support staff we have the tools to help even more people.
Well that’s about it from me apart from the fact for my sins I support the Newcastle Vipers Ice Hockey team ( someone has to) they are slightly more successful than Newcastle United.
